Vinnie Colaiuta

Vinnie Colaiuta, born Vincent Colaiuta on February 5, 1956 in Brownsville, PA, is an American drummer best known for his technical skill, musical versatility, and having played with numerous artists from a wide variety of music genres.

Vinnie started playing the drums at a young age; his parents eventually got him a full drumkit when he was fourteen years old. 

Colaiuta has worked with the likes of The Beach Boys, Jeff Beck, Chick Corea, Leonard Cohen, Wang Chung, Robben Ford, Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Haslip, Quincy Jones, Chaka Khan, Megadeth, Chuck Loeb, Joni Mitchell, Sting, Barbra Streisand, Gino Vannelli, Frank Zappa, and a plethora of others.

In 1994, Vinnie released a self-titled CD, Vinnie Colaiuta, which features a number of his own tunes.

In 1996, Vinnie was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame, having received the "Drummer of the Year" award eighteen times — based on votes from Modern Drummer magazine's annual reader polls.

A drummer's drummer, Vinnie Colaiuta continues to be one of the most in-demand sessions drummers to date, performing on numerous recordings in multiple music genres every year.
