John Aldridge stopped by the Drummer Cafe stage at the 2010 Chicago Drum Show to visit with me and discuss/demonstrate the fine art of drum engraving.
Aldridge has engraved metal drums for the likes of Joyful Noise Drum Company, Ludwig Drum Company, and Dunnett Classic Drums, just to name a few, plus numerous individuals desiring to take their metal shell drums to the next level in the way of beauty and aesthetics.
John Aldridge is a drummer (of course), but also a world renowned drum historian and author, founder and editor of Not So Modern Drummer magazine, drum tech, and as you will see in the video below, a master drum engraver. He is currently the chief engraver at Joyful Noise Drum Company, and has his own series of Joyful Noise snare drums, the John Aldridge Signature Line — a 4x14 seamless brass shell with a bright nickel-plated finish (Standard model), a black nickel-plated finish (Deluxe model), or the Elite Model with a black nickel-plated finish with a mirrored panel pattern hand-engraved by John, making each drum a one-of-a-kind collectible.
