David Garibaldi
David Garibaldi is in critical condition at Highland Hospital after being struck by an Amtrak train passing by Yoshi's in Oakland, CA. The accident occurred around 7:30pm Thursday, January 12, just before Tower of Power was scheduled to perform that evening.  Police stated that a group of four people tried to cross the railroad tracks — while the warning guard arms were still down — toward Yoshi’s after a freight train slowly chugged by. Unfortunately the pedestrians didn’t see the Amtrak train traveling about 25 mph from the opposite direction on another track. Two were able to jump out of the way, but Garibaldi and current bassist, Marc Van Wageningen, were not. Both men are in critical condition but have regained consciousness.

24 hours after the accident — a GoFundMe Medical Campaign has been created to assist in the life altering event and major medical expenses for these two musicians. David Garibaldi is awaiting medical prognosis of the broken bones and facial fractures he sustained in the accident; Marc Van Wageningen is currently in ICU in a medically induced coma after surgery to remove his spleen and other injuries.
