BIOGRAPHY
Dick Dodd, born Joseph Richard Dodd on October 27, 1945 in Hermosa Beach, California, was an American drummer and singer, best known as a former Mouseketeer, original drummer for The Bel-Airs with their hit surf rock song "Mr. Moto," and the lead singer and drummer for The Standells with their hit song, "Dirty Water."

Dick Dodd helped pioneer the West Coast rock of the early '60s. After playing drums and singing with the Casuals, Eddie & the Showmen, and the Bel-Airs, Dodd accepted an invitation to join the L.A.-based group the Standells in 1964. In addition to playing on the Standells' 1966 hit tribute to Boston's Charles River, "Dirty Water," he appeared with the group in the 1967 film Riot on Sunset Strip.
Dick Dodd passed away on November 29, 2013 after being hospitalized with stage four cancer of the esophagus, spleen, liver and spine; he was 68.
